Abstract: The paper aims to develop pupils 'and students' ability to address interdisciplinary aspects of everyday life. Thus we have been created a solar powered aquaponic system that is monitored and automated by Arduino. The aquaponic greenhouse is a system that combines conventional aqua culture with hydroponic sera in a symbiotic environment so the by-product of the fish is transformed into plant food by decomposing it into nitrates. The water carrying the fish debris is then recirculation into the aquaculture system with a pump. In order to ensure a favourable environment for the development of nitrifying bacteria, clay balls are used, these are balls of different sizes of expanded clay with high porosity structure, but also high oxygenation. It is proposed to use a monitoring and automation system, having as main control component an Arduino Acquisition Plate with Mega 2560 processor. The greenhouse’s monitoring system is composed of several types of sensors, digital temperature and humidity sensor DHT -11, SNS-TMP10K Water Temperature Sensor and PT15-21C / TR8 Luminous Sensor. As a power supply system is proposed a system that uses solar energy. For power the water pump and the monitoring system a 50W monocrystalline panel will be used. Since the energy collected from a solar panel cannot be used directly, an electric converter for solar panels will be used. The students can understand some phenomena of biology, physics and chemistry and also can monitoring the processes that occur in the aquaponic system. This educational laboratory has a main role in creating student knowledge for the use of green energy instead of the classic and pollutant energy.
