Abstract:
The analysis of the assessment tests from the perspective of the Item Response Theory entails fulfilling a set of assumptions regarding the unidimensionality and the local independence of the items. The present paper brings forward the results of the analysis of the measured constructs and of the internal structure of the items used in the year 2017 for the Science National Evaluation Tests, 6th grade. The study is based on the technique of Categorical Principal Components Analysis. The analysis was carried out with a view to testing the assumptions of unidimentionality and local independence, being a preliminary stage in our endeavour to determine the characteristics of the items and of the tests by using IRT unidimensional or multidimensional models.
