Abstract:
A very simple method, requiring less time and energy, was used to design bioactive materials containing silica, mandarin peels’ extract, biogenic silver nanoparticles and honey. The use of fruit wastes, rich in bioactive molecules, is an easy and affordable way for obtaining the bioactive materials. The samples prepared in this study were characterized by spectral methods (UV-Vis and FT-IR spectroscopy), and by AFM microscopy. The biomaterials showed high antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli and also good antioxidant properties evaluated in vitro by chemiluminescence technique, making them good candidates for many biomedical applications.
