Abstract:
In this presentation we shall provide a pedagogical introduction into recent developments in dark energy and modified gravity. We then discuss possible dark energy extensions as quintom models which can justify the current evolution of the Universe, capable of explaining the accelerated expansion and the dynamics of the dark energy equation of state. Namely, we analyze different nonminimal coupling possibilities with various scalars such as: scalar curvature, Gauss-Bonnet terms, cubic, etc. Finally our talk summarizes the main advantages and concept limitations of quintom models with respect to more classical approaches.
