Abstract:
The TASTRAK™ plastic detectors were irradiated with alpha particles from 241Am and 226Ra and etched in two different alkaline solutions (NaOH, KOH), with different concentrations and etching time to optimize the energy response of the detector and size distributions of the defects associated with incident alpha energies and their concentrations.
These responses will be used in the calibration of similar detectors used for the determination of the radioactive background in the EHN1 hall from CERN where the two protoDUNE detectors were installed.
