Abstract:
The Standard Model of particle physics is an elegant way of understanding the relationships between particles and their interactions and that was confirmed after tests with ever increasing precision. Unfortunately this is not the whole story: it provides no answer to some puzzling questions, such as the identity of the invisible dark energy and dark matter, or complete unification of the interactions. As a result, in the search for physics beyond the Standard Model, one area of notably keen interest continues to be neutrinos, mysterious particles for that after 90 years after their prediction their properties are not completely established. After a discussion about the present strategy in neutrino physics, the talk will be focussed on the physics that could be obtained in DUNE experiment, the most innovative technology for temporal chamber projection with LAr as active medium, as the greatest detector up to now. The efforts initiated at the Faculty of Physics in this thematic for the prototype developed at CERN as protoDUNE and in US as DUNE experiment will also be mentioned. This work is done in collaboration with: Mihaela Parvu, Alexandru Jipa, Oana Ristea, Marius Calin, Ana Chiriacescu.
