Abstract: Collisions are defined as mechanical movements that undergo with very large variations in impulses in very short periods of time. There are mainly two methods for the study of collisions:
- the asymptotic model – where the trajectories of the particles before and after the collision are considered rectilinear and all phenomena at the point of contact (including deformations) are ignored;
- the dynamical collision model – represents a detailed analysis of the trajectory of the particles in the contact area and all causes that affect the movement of the bodies are taken into account.
The law of conservation for momentum allows for determining the relation between the particles’ impulses without the need of explicit dependency F(t) of the percussion forces. Normally, for obtaining a clear solution more info are required concerning the after-collision scenario. Herein, we show a graphical method that satisfies these conditions.
