Abstract: The present paper introduces the results of the analyses regarding the intensity of the main physiological processes of various selected green lettuce hybrids, under the influence of an
autochthonous plant biostimulator – ASFAC BCO-4. Green lettuce is a vegetable plant belonging to the Asteraceae family. In Romania, green lettuce is cultivated in pure culture and also in systems of associated and successive crops. Green lettuce is grown mainly for the leaves, which are usually consumed in fresh state. The adhibition of ASFAC solutions at different concentrations to the green lettuce hybrids had a stimulating role in the unfolding of their metabolic reactions. ASFAC is an aqueous solution of organic salts with auxinic, nontoxic action, the only universal biostimulator with applications in agriculture, horticulture viticulture and forestry. It can be applied at any vegetative stage, including during the flowering phase. ASFAC magnifies the resistance of plants to abiotic stress conditions and also favours the increase of the chlorophyll content, causing the photosynthesis process to intensify. It also improves the absorbtion capacity of the basic nutrients added to the crops, helping plant vigor and obtaining a significant incremental production, up to 35% more plants per 1 hectare. The intensity assessment of the photosynthesis, respiration and transpiration was determined with the LC Pro + device, directly into the experimental field, during the time of harvesting. The obtained results were linked to the growth process of the analyzed hybrids and to the weight of their commercial part. As a conclusion, the intensity of physiological processes varied depending on the light intensity, temperature, plant hybrids and ASFAC concentrations applied.
