Abstract: There is an increase interest to move towards a carbon neutral society. Chemical bonds can be used to store energy. Water electrolysis can be used to produce hydrogen and oxygen from water. Hydrogen has the same energy in 1 kg as gasoline has in 2.8 kg and it is considered as an alternative fuel. Alternative energy sources are the optimal solution, especially photoelectrochemical cells (PEC) due to of the many applications and advantages they present. We are focusing on PEC as they can confront pollution at various levels: waste water treatment, CO2 reduction, respective non-pollutant fuel production (H2).
The present work aims at a complete photoelectrochemical analysis of TiO2 electrodes. Electrode testing is performed in typical three electrode cappuccino cell.
