Abstract: The knowledge of the pollutant concentrations in atmospheric studies is important in all atmospheric composition studies, especially for air quality and assessments of their impact on climate change. In this respect, combined in situ measurements by ground-based techniques and methods, as gravimetry and photometry, bring valuable information. Present research is dedicated to the study of the relationship between in situ measurement of aerosol concentration (PM10) by gravimetric methods and concentration of aerosols in the atmosphere column, using photometric methods. We prepared a database with coincident datasets from air-quality monitoring stations provided by Romanian National Agency for Environmental Protection (for PM10) and from ground-based photometers belonging to AEerosol RObotic NETwork (AERONET) (for aerosol optical depth, AOD). The site chose for investigation is Magurele and coincident data covers the time period from 2015 to 2018. Data series have been statistically analyzed to determine temporal trends. Moreover, empirical relationships between PM10 and AOD have been inferred.

The ground-based data that were extracted from the public available National Air Quality Monitoring Network (www.calitateaer.ro), accessed in March 2019.
