Abstract: Oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is essential for several electrochemical energy devices. Evaluating ORR kinetic parameters is crucial in designing new materials. The rotating disk electrode is an electroanalytical technique which is routinely used in the electrochemical characterization of materials. The controlled flow enhances the electroactive species transport and generate a current which can be theoretical predicted. There are several parameters that can influence the accuracy of the results, such as: the roughness of the electrode, the platinum deposition procedure and the cleanliness of the electrochemical cell and electrode. This work aims at producing a measuring protocol that can generate accurate and reproductive results. This work shows that electrolyte purity, electrode preparation, and ink optimization are essential in delivering accurate results.
