Abstract:
The kind of visualization detector - Geyser type, was constructed for the first time in 1973 by Hahn and Reist [1] to detect transuranic nuclei. In the present, a little version was constructed in the nuclear physics laboratory of the faculty and it is in tests. The Geyser detector is a transparent vessel containing a superheated liquid and a "neck" with an additional system using a continuum Heron’s fountain in order to obtain a gradient of temperature for convection. The superheated liquid is insensitive to the minimum ionizing particles like electrons, but sensitive to the recoiling low energy ions. In these conditions the ions transfer their kinetic energy as thermal energy through extremely small regions of the liquid and the intense heating induces localized boiling creating vapor cavities. These vapor cavities can grow and reach a macroscopic size as bubbles and because of the cooling system the bubble pushes up a part of the liquid in the neck (this is the reason of the name Geyser). The system doesn't require external interventions or recompression.
