Abstract:
Because they emit a wide range of gases and solid matter, vehicles have a significant impact on the environment, causing global warming, acid rain and various human health problems. Electric vehicles may be the solution to all these problems, but there are some concerns. Current battery technologies rely on lithium, cobalt and other scarce materials. Because of the low availability and high prices, alternatives must be found before a wide scale deployment of EVs. So far, research has shown promising results for Na-Ion batteries. Sodium is a widely available element and is 99% cheaper than lithium. The purpose of this work is to develop an experimental Na-Ion battery for EV deployment, by using various theoretical and practical approaches. The final goals are to decrease costs and improve energy density and cyclic stability of Na-Ion batteries, make them suitable for use in electric vehicles and improving adoption for the general population.
