Abstract:
It is well know that the oxidative stress is one of the most important risk factor in the pathogenesis of numerous diseases. An antioxidant is any substances which inhibits oxidative damage and this is carry out by trapping the free radicals. The antioxidant products contain compounds (phenolic acids, polyphenols and flavonoids ) which scavenge this free radicals and thus inhibit the oxidative mechanisms. The antioxidant products are commercially available under the form of teas or food supplements. In this study we have used the Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy to analyses the antioxidant activity of some commercial products sold in pharmacies. By using DPPH scavenging assay method we demonstrate the antioxidant activity of the products and furthermore from the quantitatively analyses we successfully demonstrate the differences between the products.
