 Abstract:
Currently, the existence of dark matter is strongly supported, but its nature remains elusive. There exist various theories of dark matter involving heavy particles and/or new states of matter. The Standard Model (SM) was probed with a great precision by collider experiments at the TeV scale. However, there is a number of reasons to suppose that unobserved particles exist at or above the TeV scale.
Non-collider experiments offer promising ways to explore mass regions beyond the SM, not available at colliders. This short communication is focused on a specific class of hypothetical stable massive particles predicted by the SM or by BSM theories or supported by these and which can be directly observed via their interactions in a detector.
