Title: Euler’s laws and Lagrange’s equations for a particle sliding inside a cylinder

Abstract: Euler’s laws and Lagrange’s equations are applied to simulate the relative motion of a particle sliding inside a cylinder placed on a horizontal surface. The motion is described from the simplest to the most complex case as a function of the friction coefficients between the in-contact surfaces. Differential equations and their solutions for the rotation and translation motion of the particle-cylinder system are provided.
