Abstract:
The Earth is permanently exposed to cosmic ray particles and solar radiation. It is well known that nuclear interactions of cosmic ray particles with atmospheric nuclei generate extensive air showers which can be registered at low altitudes of the Earth. The contribution of radiation to the environmental dose rate varies depending on data such as the period of minimum and maximum solar activity, altitude and geomagnetic latitude. The effects of radiation on the Earth's environment are discussed. Since protons are predominantly relativistic particles in primary cosmic radiation, the conclusion is that sudden changes in proton fluxes due to various phenomena, such as stellar explosions, can significantly influence the Earth's climate and weather. An interpretation of the results of research on cosmic ray variations represents a new way to better understand the cosmic influence on the terrestrial environment.
