Abstract:
To extend the life and capabilities of the analog-digital CALLISTO solar radio spectrometer, we are searching for replacing the TV tuner based instrument, now obsolete and increasingly difficult to procure, with a Software Defined Radio. We found that the RX-888 MKII SDR in conjunction with specially developed open source software is an affordable and effective replacement instrument with good performances and perspectives of development. We present here the best results after one year of continuous solar radio burst monitoring.
