Abstract:
We assess the diquark scalar Suu discovery potential at the LHC in the 7-8.5 TeV mass range, given the upcoming high-luminosity update. Monte Carlo techniques are used to simulate signal and background samples. We consider a Suu diquark scalar coupling to up-quarks (yuu≥0.2) subsequently decaying into two vectorlike quarks (ꭓ). The final state of the targeted process consists of 6 high-pT jets coming from (Wb) pairs corresponding to a standard decay mode of vectorlike quarks. Boosted Decision Tree and Random Forest are the Machine Learning algorithms used to build a signal-from-background discriminator, which encapsulates the most relevant signal events characteristics. We estimate that for an integrated luminosity of 3000 fb^{-1}, ATLAS and/or CMS have a good potential to discover or rule out an ultraheavy diquark scalar with nearly 8 TeV mass and minimum Yukawa couplings.
