Abstract:
A sample of π⁰→e⁺e⁻ decay candidates was collected by the NA62 experiment during the 2017 and 2018 data-taking periods. The analysis focuses on identifying signal events in the K⁺→π⁺π⁰ decay chain, with the π⁰ decaying to an electron-positron pair. Due to its rarity and suppression with eight order of magnitudes with regards to π⁰→γγ, this decay may be sensitive to new physics. In this presentation, updated results on the measurement of the branching ratio will be shown, along with a comparison to the previous measurement from the KTeV experiment. The results will also provide a test of the Standard Model theoretical predictions for this decay. In addition, a summary of the systematic and stability checks performed in the analysis will be presented.
