Abstract:
We are studying the tunneling of a wavepacket in 1D motion through a potential barrier with an arbitrary shape. We numerically calculate the tunneling time as defined in [1] and study the influence of the barrier shape and the width have on it. In the case of a rectangular barrier, we compare our numerical results with those given by a semi-analytical formula. Our numerical simulations were written in Python and the symbolic computation was performed in Wolfram.
