Abstract:
Fog is a meteorological phenomenon, which consists of an agglomeration of particles of water suspended in the atmosphere near the surface of the ground, which reduces horizontal visibility below 1000 m. Following the importance of fog study in general and size distribution of fog particles especially, in this work we determined dimensional distributions of radiation fog. We used data sets of measurements in the Po Valley, Italy, where the frequency of fog is very high due to geographical conditions. Correlation between microphysical parameters of fog and meteorological parameters was determined. A relationship between liquid water content and number concentration of fog particles was obtained. This relationship can be used in the forecast models.
