Abstract:
A thorough study of different scientific and theological concepts about the laws and nature phenomena is not possible without knowing the evolution of time and space conceptions in physics, respectively patristic literature. From the scientific approach on this problem, the starting point in such a “chronology” should be the definition of these concepts in classical physics, even if modern physics proved to be more comprehensive in this field. The irreversibility, as an intrinsic property of time, is not linked to a certain physical phenomenon, but it has multiple consequences both in theoretical and practical plan. Even though, a series of questions, concerning the irreversibility on microsystems level and the consequences on macroscopic plan are not entirely clarified, physical phenomena in the statistical thermodynamics or the evolution of the Universe towards the most likely states, leads to the meeting of theology and biblical teaching of the world creation. The scope of the present work is the evolution of the time concept in science since the antiquity till today, as well as the reception of this theory by the Eastern patristic theology.
