Abstract:
Using the Coulomb Green function method, the two photon S-matrix element is obtained in the case of Rayleigh scattering by 2s electrons, in the nonrelativistic limit. The corrections to the well known Stobbe formula for the photoeffect from the 2s electrons due to the retardation and relativistic kinematics are also obtained. A good agreement (within 10%) is found when comparing our results with the numerical full relativistic calculations for photon energies up to \alphaZm. Acknowledgments: For C.
