Abstract:
The large variety of dental alloys used nowadays presents various possibilities of utilisation, depending on compositional formula, time resistance and biocompatibility requests. We investigated the corrosion process of some non-noble metal alloys like Ni, Cr, Co, Ti, used in order to avoid expensive costs and limited resources of noble alloys. The chemical nature of the metal alloy determines the composition of the superficial films, with strong influence to corrosion behaviour in saliva. We also emphasize the role of bacteria that is present in the oral cavity.
