Abstract:
A primary Radionuclide Metrology Laboratory (RML) assures the entire technical support to the Romanian laboratories and the realization, the conservation and the transmission of the "activity" standards, in various fields of measurement, environmental radioactivity characterization being included. The Radionuclide Metrology Laboratory (RML), develops methods for the standardization for all kinds of standard solutions, point and large area alpha and beta standard sources, and gamma volume standard sources used for the measurement of environmental samples and for the calibration of surface contamination monitors. The methods used are: precise methods for absolute standardization and relative methods. The paper presents the methods developed and used in the RML from IFIN-HH: (a) The methods for absolute standardization of radionuclides: coincidence method and LSC-TDCR method; (b) The relative methods are base don the following installations: large area alpha and beta proportional counter; NaI(Tl) crystal and ionization chamber.
