Abstract:
This paper presents an in-house method validation for the XRF spectrometer used in the laboratory and a quality analysis of several photos taken between the end of nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century.For the in-house validation of the method a number of 48 samples having different compositions were used. We obtained the control charts and an evaluation of the uncertainty of the XRF technique performed in the laboratory.Using the XRF technique a number of photos made by different photo workshops over a half century were analyzed. We observed the difference in elemental composition between the photo workshops and the chemical composition evolution of the photographic materials. These preliminary results provide historical data on the photo workshops operating in Romania over the time.
