Abstract:
The Hamiltonian of a uniaxial anisotropic doped semiconductor, containing a free electron gas interacting with the optical phonon modes via their associated macroscopic field, is obtained. In the context of the random phase approximation, the linear response of the system to the scalar potential is investigated. The linear response function is calculated by taking into account all sources of the system anisotropy (the shape of the constant energy-surfaces of the ?bare? electron, the Coulomb electron-electron interaction, the frequency spectrum of the extraordinary phonon modes and the electron-optical phonon interaction). The dispersion of the obtained coupled mode-frequencies is discussed for the particular case of wurtzite GaN.
