Abstract:
Recent research has revealed that terahertz radiation used in medicine and biology is beneficial in that it does not cause damage, because this type of radiation is non-ionizing. The substances analyzed with Thz radiation show unique molecular spectra, that is why this type of radiation can be used for identification of different substances. In research, X-rays had been given the opportunity to the biophysicists to confirm the theory of crystallography. Using the diffraction theory we can indentify and determine the structure of different substances. In this way we can identify chemical compounds and determine the size of ultramicroscopic particles. Using X-ray spectroscopy we can identify chemical particles. In addition to applications in physics, chemistry and biology, we can use X-rays in medicine for diagnosis and treatment of cancer. This study aims to highlight the advantages and disadvantages of using this type of radiation.
