Abstract:
The class of semiconducting polymers with electroluminescent properties is generally reduced at conjugated structures group of PPP and PPV type and theirs derivates. The quantum yields are low when are chemical synthesized and deposited in thin films, from the cause of being very low solubility. To remove partially this deficiencies were developed two ways: polymerization with addition of another structures (MEH-PPV for example) for making soluble in ordinary solvents like THF; and the secondary way is plasma polymerization but with no hopeful results. The aim of paper is to present a method of synthesis of PPV in two steps: first step is a chloromethylation of an aromatic compound using Blanc reaction, and the second, a classical polymerisation with potassium tert-butoxide of the pervious compound. The result is a macromolecular gel easy to be processed. The properties of PPV were investigated using Raman, UV-VIS spectroscopy and a study of fluorescence. In this way was make out some typical characteristics of this PPV structures in correlation with synthesis conditions.
