Abstract:
We give a method for constructing families of bivariate irrreducible polynomials F(x,y) over algebraically closed fields of characteristic zero. It applies to polynomials for whcih the degree index is close to deg_x(P_d)/d, where d is the degree with respect to y of the polynomial F and P_d(x) is the free term of F with respect to y. The families that
we consider includes that of generalized difference
polynomials.
