Abstract:
For an atom exposed to a laser field of constant amplitude we explore through numerical means the possibility to represent the wave function as a linear superposition of Floquet states corresponding to that intensity. The calculations are done for an electron under the combined action of a laser field and an 1D short range potential. To realise this objective we use an orthogonality property of the Floquet states, inferred from the results obtained through direct numerical integration of time dependent Schrodinger equation. We present an efficient algorithm to solve the Floquet problem and some numerical results concerning the quasienergies and the Fourier components of the Floquet solutions for the case of a soft-Yukawa potential. We decompose the wave function by projecting it onto the computed Floquet solutions. Then we compare the wave function with the superposition of the Floquet solutions.
