Abstract:
A major event of long-range transported dust to the SE Europe is presented in this paper. The outbreak was measured by the EARLINET (European Aerosol Lidar Network) during 19th to 22nd of May 2013. In this paper, we focus on the retrieval of the mass concentration profiles of mixed aerosol and estimation of the dust content, based on lidar measurements performed in Magurele (lat. 44.348 N, long 26.029 E, 93 m asl)Romania. We used both a modified version of the POLIPHON and the newly developed LIRIC algorithm to retrieve the mass concentration profile. A good agreement was found between the two methods, along with the DREAM forecast for May 20, 2013.
