Abstract:
In the frame of “improved Wigner-Brillouin perturbation theory” the energy levels in the both considered cases of a conduction electron, that of a two dimensional bare electron and that of a quasi-two dimensional electron, interacting with the optical phonon field in an uniaxial anisotropic polar crystal, placed in a d.c. magnetic field directed along the optical axis are obtained. Consequently, the magnetic field dependence of the cyclotron resonance frequency is discussed. Though the electron-quasi-transverse phonon mode interaction is weak, these modes play an important role in both phenomena, that of magneto-polaron splitting and that of pinning as well. The features of the optical phonon spectrum in such anisotropic uniaxial polar crystals determine the appearance of a new magneto-polaron branches. Numerical results for the magneto-polaron spectrum and magnetic field dependence of cyclotron resonance frequency are presented in the case of InSe layered semiconductor.
