Abstract:
The use of ultraviolet radiation for the sterilization of microorganisms has been studied since the 1930s. Lethal effect of ultraviolet radiation has is considered for most microorganisms, including bacteria, fungal spores, viruses, protozoa, nematode eggs and algae. It is now very important to proven technology for old documents and different contaminated artworks. The microorganism is sterilized because of ultraviolet mode of action on the DNA molecule. Prevention of DNA replication does cause the death of the cell. The ultraviolet sterilization of the microorganisms deposited on the different surface (wood, paper, glass, and stone) is the goal of some new research. This paper presents a new portable equipment with UV laser diodes for decontamination/sterilization and first experimental results in-vitro.
