Abstract:
The paper presents only a small part of the Radionuclide Metrology Laboratory (RML) from IFIN-HH implication in solving the problems connected to the quality assurance of radiopharmaceuticals in production and use, by assuring the metrological traceability in the control of radiometrological parameters: measurement of activity and radioactive concentration, measurement of the decay scheme parameters (half life and emission intensity, radionuclide purity. The main aspects treated in this paper are the presentation and the set-up of the 4πβ(PC)-ɣ coincidence method, used very efficiently for the absolute standardization of various positron emitters (PET) such are Cu-64, Ga-68, F-18 and strong beta-weak gamma emitters (radiotherapy) such are Sm-153, Lu-177, Re-186,188. Developing methods for standardization, as well as their verification in some international comparisons are also an important goal of RML research activities. The results of this work are presented in published papers, or papers accepted for presentation at international conferences.
